Reading is Love is a city-wide effort to raise literacy awareness, highlighting the importance of reading to children daily from birth in order to develop vocabulary and literacy skills. Reading is Love was developed to provide the "on-the-go" parent with opportunities to read with their child as many parents reported having little or no time to read with their children due to their busy schedules. Finances are also an issue when it comes to having books in the home for many families. Reading is Love addresses both of these concerns.
The beauty of Reading is Love is that all stories and corresponding illustrations are created specifically for Reading is Love through partnerships with local schools and universities. Current university partners include the University of the Arts and Chestnut Hill College. To meet our current authors and illustrators, click here: Bios and Links.
In addition, the kind support of sponsors enables Reading is Love to remain a free resource for families. Sponsorship opportunities are available to promote Reading is Love via SEPTA, Amtrak, The Philadelphia International Airport, as well as local newspapers, radio, and other media venues.
